Behind The Scenes with DTSBDC’s newest dancer Christine Doyle

Go To breakfast
Oatmeal with a heaping spoonful of peanut butter.

Pre-performance ritual
I put my headphones in, blast some show tunes, and block everything out for 10 minutes. I take these moments to clear my head, continue to warm-up, and visualize the choreography I’m about to perform.

Favorite location performed with DTSBDC
It’s my first time dancing with DTSBDC, so this is still TBD… but I’m really looking forward to performing at the Kennedy Center with them in September!

Travel must-have
Possibly the most cliché answer out there… my iPhone. Music, maps, texting, and Google, what else could you need?

Favorite non-dance activity or hobby
Baking; I’m always looking for an excuse to try a new recipe and share with friends. Baklava is on the must conquer list in the near future.

I started dancing when…
I was 4, after months of begging my mom to let me take ballet class.

Childhood dream career
To be a dancer and a lawyer. One of them managed to stick.

Favorite DTSBDC piece
“Mandala.” The energy in the piece is unsurpassable with intricate and rigorous choreography. With the hard-hitting music, the dancers leave you breathless and energized by the end of the piece.

Current jam
“Hold Back the River” – James Bay

Words I live by
“All great changes are preceded by chaos.” – Deepak Chopra
